The trekking path takes its origin from the mountain near Hell’s Bridge at an altitude of 550 m. It continues on a dirt track along the River Bussento. After about 1 km the path starts going uphill through a black hornbeam wood brining us to a flat section of the trail where we can turn our glaze to the rocky cliffs of the Bussento Riverbed. Walking along a still untouched vegetation we’ll arrive to the sources of the Bussento River which arise within a cave from where part of the spring water is captured thanks to the construction of an aqueduct. The path ends at the entrance of a 500 m. long tunnel which we will go along with the help of our flashlights. Once inside the sinkhole there is a perception of its greatness, its elliptical shape and the high value of its natural environment. The grey limestone has been excavated by the waters of the stream that drains the entire Valley of Vallivona generating a modest but interesting waterfall. The return excursion takes place using the same route. This is on of the most interseting walking and hiking excursions in the National Park of Cilento, Southern Italy.
