THE PILGRIMS' PATH ON MONTE SACRO OR GELBISON

At 1707 metres, Monte Sacro or Gelbison is the highest peak in Cilento, as well as the most spectacular viewpoint over the entire Park. From the summit, you can admire an extraordinary panorama stretching from Sicily to the Amalfi Coast!

The pilgrims' path, named in honour of the many pilgrims who walk it in devotion to the Madonna, leads to the summit of Monte Gelbison. It consists almost entirely of stone paths and steps, except for a short stretch of asphalt. Along the ascent, there are numerous viewing terraces overlooking the coastal area of Cilento, from Palinuro to Acciaroli.

On the summit stands the Santuario della Madonna del Monte Sacro, a place of worship and the destination of frequent pilgrimages from Cilento and neighbouring regions.

TREKKING TO BAIA DEGLI INFRESCHI WITH RETURN BY BOAT

The route follows one of the most renowned stretches of coastline in the entire Cilento National Park, starting at the port of Camerota and ending at Baia Infreschi, passing the coves of Pozzallo and Cala Bianca (named one of Italy's most beautiful beaches in 2013).

We return to the starting point by boat, with an opportunity to visit the numerous caves along the coast from the sea.

Along the walking route, we will make 2 stops (Cala Pozzallo and Baia Infreschi) of 30 minutes each for swimming. At Cala Bianca, we will stop for 1 hour to eat our packed lunches and swim if we wish.

TREKKING AND CANOEING ALONG THE COSTA DEI TREZENI

We set off by canoe from the port of Agropoli and reach the Pastena area after passing the Agropoli fort, Scoglio di San Francesco, Scoglio di Trentova and Scoglio del Sale. In Pastena, there is a swimming break or, for those who wish, a short walk along the paths of Monte Tresino. The walk takes us past some of the finest viewpoints, overlooking the entire Amalfi Coast in the distance and the whole bay of Trentova and Pastena below. Back at the canoes, we enjoy a fruit-based aperitif before returning by canoe.

POZZO DELL’UVA NERA

Starting from the seaside village of Pioppi, we follow the seafront to the so-called “Porto del Fico”, one of the Velian ports belonging to the Kora of Velia, at the mouth of the “Mortelle” river. Here a lush path begins along the riverbed, surrounded by dense vegetation. Zigzagging over rocks emerging from the water, between imposing walls of layered rock typical of Cilento's geological flysch, it almost feels as though we are in a tropical landscape.

We soon reach the end of the path, with a view of a small waterfall feeding a karst pool known as “pozzo dell’uva nera”. Its name probably comes from the presence of “Capelvenere” (maidenhair fern), a fern typical of damp, shady environments that withers in its final phase, resembling bunches of black grapes.

MONTE DELLA STELLA

Starting from the square in San Mauro Cilento, we head towards the path leading to the summit at 1130 m above sea level, passing Lombard ruins and sacred sites. At the summit, between the Santuario della Madonna della Stella and the modern radar installation, we stop briefly to take in the view across central Cilento and beyond.

POLLICA AND ITS HAMLETS

Cannicchio, Galdo, Celso and Pollica in a single excursion, to experience the atmosphere of the past and a typical day in the life of a Cilento resident in times gone by.

We walk among olive groves and Mediterranean scrub along ancient mule tracks and connecting paths, taking time to explore these fascinating villages where time seems to have stood still.

“LA CUNTARIA” - STELLA CILENTO AND ITS VILLAGES

An excursion to discover Stella Cilento, a municipality with the sociable, welcoming character typical of Cilento, and its small villages, accompanied by the "CUNTI" (tales) that characterise these places in old Cilento. Our walk leads from San Giovanni to Amalafede, from Amalafede to Guarrazzano, and then from Guarrazzano to Stella Cilento. Along paths through nature and in timeless stone villages, we meet people who tell us about this enchanted land. We visit the two potters who embody a long-standing local tradition.

PIANA DELLE FATE – CELSO (POLLICA)

Celso is a hamlet of Pollica whose charm lies in its aura of history and mystery. This is reflected in the many folk tales passed down orally, which, with a little luck, you can still hear today if you meet one of the few residents remaining in the village.

We follow Via Velino, an ancient road that connected the village to Velia. Fairies and munacielli are said to have lived here, and even witches from the north are believed to have stopped at the “Fontana di Valle” for their sabbaths.

We journey back in time through pagan and religious beliefs, following mule tracks and ancient paths shrouded in rose briars and wild brambles. We cross an old bridge from the early twenties and pass through terraced undergrowth that gradually thins out among centuries-old olive groves and silent ruins.

TREKKING AND CANOEING ON THE CALORE RIVER

A fascinating circular walk followed by a canoe trip in one of the most captivating places in all of Cilento: the Gole del Calore. Following the course of the Calore river, we enter a landscape halfway between reality and legend, with enormous channels shaped over the years by flowing water.

At the end of the walk, we travel upstream along the navigable section of the river in canoes or pedalos, to admire from below what we have seen from above.

Start point: Oasi di Remolino (Felitto)

SAMMARO GORGES AND ROSCIGNO VECCHIO

A short but spectacular excursion, visiting first the springs of the Sammaro, a tributary of the Calore river, and then Roscigno Vecchio. This village was abandoned at the beginning of the 20th century but has remained almost entirely intact. Every year it attracts numerous visitors, as well as directors who use these places as filming locations.

Start and finish point: Sacco (entrance to the Sammaro Gorges)

Duration: the return walk to the gorges takes approximately 1 hour; 5 hours overall, including various stops at the gorges, the Sacco bridge and Roscigno Vecchio
